Food Security for International Students

What is iTable?

The iTable Basic Needs Program is an International Services and Engagement Office (ISEO) program run in partnership with UC San Diego’s The Hub Basic Needs Center, with generous sponsorship from the UC San Diego Basic Needs Committee. This program specifically serves the unique needs of our international student population by providing them with immediate food security resources that are otherwise not available via other means (for example, CalFresh).

UC San Diego Student Testimonies

Being an international student from a developing country, this program has really benefited me by providing meals and grocery items in times of need. On obtaining the cards, I have been able to eat properly during the months of November and December.”

Before I received this funding, my wife and I were picking very little groceries which was usually not [sufficent]. We avoided buying good nutritious vegetables because they were expensive. After I received this funding, this has helped us eat well and be healthy and has helped me focus on my studies. I am very grateful that this program exists! Thank you so much!

“I don’t have to think twice or compromise while spending money on my nutrition. This directly aEects my academic performance by saving some cooking time as well as helping financially to get quality vegetables, etc. This eliminated much of the financial stress which also aEects my studies. Overall, it’s a very good thing for international students!”
