Donate to Basic Needs!
The Basic Needs Center is open to receiving donations from the community to support our mission of making UC San Diego a more basic needs secure campus.
If you or an organization is interested in donating to the Basic Needs Center, we welcome all donations as long as they fall within the guidelines. See below:
Food Items
The Triton Food Pantry accepts donations of food items that are sealed and shelf-stable:
- Dry Black Beans
- Canned Black Beans
- Canned Other Beans
- Dry Lentils
- Canned Tuna
- Canned Chicken
- Dry Pasta
- Canned Vienna Sausages
- Canned Spam
- Dry Oats
- White rice
- Brown Rice
- Cereal
- Shelf Stable Chicken/Beef/Vegetable Stock
- Shelf Stable Milk/Non Dairy Milk
The Triton Food Pantry is also open to other donations that include produce, packaged perishable items, canned and dry items. We will not accept damaged, punctured moldy or non-labeled food items. Please drop off donations during hours of operation at the Basic Needs Center front desk located at Student Center A!
Personal Hygiene Items
The Personal Hygiene Program accepts donations for the following sealed and not expired items:
- Bar soap
- 2-in-1 Dandruff Shampoo + Conditioner
- Aunt Jackie’s “ph so clean!’ moisturizing & softening shampoo (for curly, kinky, & coily hair hypes 2B-4C only)
- Shea moisture “daily hydration” shampoo (for curly, kinky, & coily hair hypes 2B-4C only)
- Shea moisture “daily hydration” conditioner (for curly, kinky, & coily hair hypes 2B-4C only)
- Child toothpaste
- deodorant
- Pair of socks
- Blanket
- Laundry pods
- Dish soap
- Toilet issue
- Hand sanitizer
- Baby wipes
- Baby diapers 4,5,6, 7
- Infant formula
- Toddler formula
- Stage 2 baby food
Please drop off donations during hours of operation at the Basic Needs Center front desk located at Student Center A!
Miscellaneous
The Basic Needs Center is open to receiving the following items if space allows. Please email basicneeds@ucsd.edu to see if we are receiving the following items at the time of your donation:
- Gently used clothes
- Gently used kitchen items
- Gently used books (all ages)
Please contact us at basicneeds@ucsd.edu to set up a time for your donations located at the Old Student Center A. This will ensure we have staff available to receive them! Please be aware that we can turn away donations due to limited space at the Basic Needs Center or staff capacity.
